I further understand that Shodan is "Hajime No Otoko Tookyuu", and that this honourable position is not to be entered into lightly. I accept the fact that I will have, as a Shodan, many important responsibilities.

I fully understand that once Sakura Kan Yudansha, ALWAYS Yudansha and that should I ever have to leave Sakura Kan, for any reason whatsoever, I will continue all my life to endeavour to uphold the principles and philosophies of my Shihan, my Sensei and Sakura Kan Jiu Jitsu.

It is with this understanding that I do here, before witnesses, declare my full and absolute loyalty and dedication to Kancho and to Sakura Kan.

From the moment I am honoured with the grade of Shodan, and the rank of Sempai, I shall sincerely endeavour to follow and uphold the Sakura Kan beliefs and traditions.
